Did you jump into the New Year with an ambitious agenda to workout every single day and eat perfectly? And now you’re struggling to stay on top of it all?
When thinking about improving your health and staying on the fitness wagon, do you often think of all the things you do “wrong” and need to change? Do you develop a long list in your head and then get overwhelmed, stressed and think you can’t do it?
In our society, we have become conditioned to the immediate. From fast food to drones delivering our Amazon packages (yes, this is a thing!), we are used to getting what we want, when we want it.
Trust me, I’m guilty as anyone for becoming impatient when I have to wait for something!
However, unfortunately, your health goal is likely not something that you can achieve immediately. (sorry to bear the bad news) Whether it’s losing weight, building muscle, getting stronger, changing your lifestyle, it’s going to take time. And that’s not fun. But… the sooner you accept this fact, the faster you can actually make changes to reach your goals.
Instead of getting overwhelmed with ALL the things you want/need to change, I’d like to propose an alternative option. Focus on ONE thing to change. And, at the same time, look at the positive side as well.
Stop, Start, Continue
Take some time today and write down simply THREE things (that’s it) relating to your fitness or nutrition habits.
1. One habit to STOP doing. (choose something easy that you know you can achieve)
2. One habit to START doing. (if you’re stuck for an idea, read this)
3. One habit to CONTINUE doing.
Work on these 3 habits for a week or two, then review your list. Move the “start” habit to the “continue” spot and choose another habit to stop and one to start.
Using this method on a consistent basis, you’ll be building a SUSTAINABLE, healthy lifestyle. You’ll stay on the fitness/wellness “wagon” and you won’t feel overwhelmed, making it a much more enjoyable process.
I’d love to hear what you’ve chosen as your habits! Join our awesome Facebook community and share with the group so we can all encourage and support you.
